Abstract
Realism takes an important place in Najeeb Al-Kilani’s novels because it is the reflection of a man’s life, his experiences, thoughts and believes. This article focuses on the proverbs that have come in about twenty-two of the novels of Dr. Najeeb Al-Kilani. We studied these proverbs with respect to their source; whether they were from the period of Jahiliyah, or from the Qur’an, the Hadith or the folklore. I also shed the light on the language of the proverbs, whether it is from the classical language or the slang. And last, I studied the role of these proverbs in these novels and their values and principles
