Abstract
Islam is a religion based on natural phenomenon. It represents a complete and comprehensive guideline for every age. To maintain a constructive and positive social set up and address the crimes, Islam introduces an appropriate and relevant criminal code. Qisas (equality in revenge) is one of them. It is a divine punishment provides surety of protection to life and decreases the rate of massacre. Islam favors the act of forgiveness and sympathy no doubt, but sometimes the circumstances insist to maintain the law and order to relieve the innocent public from the bad influence of evil doers. The legitimacy of Qisas has been acknowledged in every society. This article deals with some salient features of this punishment. Likewise the observations regarding this code have also been appraised.
