Abstract
Urf (custom) is one of the secondary sources among the principles of the Islamic jurisprudence. It is of two types, the approved and the disapproved. If the Urf that is adopted fulfils the objectives of sharia shall be taken as valid and a base for solution of problems otherwise it will be null and void. In Quran and Sunnah many times Urf has been regarded as a standard for resolving the societical problems which explore its importance. In this article the very aspect of Urf has been discussed.
