Abstract
This research paper deals with the historical review as well as the methodology adopted in the memorization of the Holy Quran by the religious institutions of Pakistan. Memorizing the Holy Quran has been an interesting ambition of Muslim since the period of the Companions of the Holy Prophet (SAW). It is not exactly know that when this trend developed in Subcontinent. But the fact remains that the Muslims entered this territory in the beginning of 7th century of Hijra. Similarly, the preachers come from Afghanistan, Iran, Central Asia and Middle East who conveyed the message of Islam and consequently the trend of learning the Holy Quran got developed. Before and after the independence of Pakistan, many religious institutions have been doing this prestigious job. These centres are located in nearly every part of the country. The mosques are also utilized for this purpose. As per the detailed collected from the survey of various Hifz Madaris, it reveals that the majority are full time institutions. The Hifz Classes are taken according to the traditional method. In this article, a detailed analysis has been provided with subject to the history and methodology of Hifz Madaris which shall explore the new ideas for researchers.
