Abstract
The Holy Quran is the last divine book. It consists of two types of verses. Some verses are so clear and evident that anyone who knows Arabic language can easily understand their meaning. The other type of verses is comprehensive in meaning and in which there is some ambiguity in explanation. To understand the meaning of these verses, the science of tafsir was introduced. The basic sources of the science of tafsir are itself Quran and the Hadith of the prophet (SAW).The Hadith is the second source of tafsir, but its validation is based on authentic sanad. Because after the companions some fabricators presented countless narrations and attributed to the prophet (SAW), so the scholars of Hadith founded the science of “Jarh o Ta’dil”, due to which authentic and unauthentic narrations were distinguished. Most of tafasir consist of large number of fabricated and weak narrations which impact their authenticity. It is need of the present to search the fabricated and weak narrations in different tafasir. Imam Fakhruddin al-Razi was an encyclopedic person, he has written a detailed tafsir named as “Tafsir al-Kabir”. Its real name is “Mafatih al-Ghayb” but it is better known by “Tafsir al-Kabir”. It is a great tafsir in volume as well as in status, but unfortunately Imam Razi has quoted some weak narrations in it. In this article some weak narrations in “Surah al-Zumar to surah Fussilat” have been reviewed scholarly in the light of the views of the scholars of Jarh-oTa‘dil”.
