Abstract

The life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), according to Qur’an is the best example for all Muslims. Muslims from all over the world have therefore been trying their best to follow his footsteps in letter and spiritِ since the advent of Islam. The work accomplished with regard to recording reports about the life of the Prophet (PBUH) in general and about his conduct and character in particular bears great significance. In these recordings, however little consideration has been paid to compilation of reports equally acceptable to both Shia and Sunni schools of thought. This article attempts to high-light selected reports focusing on the aspect of akhlaq of the Prophet (PBUH) and which have been recorded by both shi’a and Sunni sources, meaning feeding both schools of thought, Shias and Sunni alike. In this thesis an account of the life and conduct of the Holy Prophet-his individual life and life in a Muslim society has been portrayed in the light of both Shia and Sunni views unanimously accepted.
