Abstract
Imam Fakhruddin al-Razi (died 606 AH) is one of those eminent Muslim scholars of the 7th century who made tremendious contribution towards expounding and elucidating of Islamic thought and philosophy. The Muslim ummah is still reaping the fruits of hise diligence and struggle in the shape of getting enlightenment from his many works written in various fields of Islamic sciences, especially his monumental Qur’anic commentary Mafatih al-Ghayb, generally known as al-Tafsir al-Kabir. The present article critically investigates some narrations quoted by Imam Razi in this work and concludes that they do not have any firm base.
