Abstract
Legal Maxims and al-qawa‘id al-kulliyah al-fiqhiyyah both is a useful and important chapter of the Legal Science which leads us towards the true picture, aims and objectives of the Legal Literature. This particiqular science passed trough many developmental stages and embraced the current wider scope which shows that many jurists and legal experts inked this specific branch of legal science and made venrable efforts to enrich this field. Among all these some efforts got very conspicuous position such as Legal Maxims of Herbert Broom in the Western World and the Ottoman Mejelle in the Muskim World. This article focuses on the impotance and developmental role of the said collections.
