Abstract

In the subcontinent, Babul-Islam Sindh has always been proud of having renowned scholars, ‘Muhadditheen’ and ‘Fuqahaa’ who lit the candle of knowledge far and wide in the world and conquered the hearts through their words and deeds. A huge number of people benefitted from their knowledge and followed their examples. Shaikh Muhammad Abid Sindhi Madni born in 1190(Hijrah) in Sehwan (Sindh), has a distinguished position in the long list of those scholars. His family traced back to the tribe of Abu Ayub (R.A) Ansari. He was a great scholar, Muhadith and Faqih of 13th Century. His grandfather Shaikh Muhammad Murad was one of the best students of Makhdoom Muhammad Hashim Thatvi (Rahmatullah Alaih). He migrated from Sindh to Arab where remained till his death. He received knowledge from Arab Scholars and became a superior Islamic scholar. He also remained a student of Imam Shoukani (r.a). Number of students from Arab and abroad graduated in hadith and received degrees from him. He died in 17th Rabi ul Awal 1257 Hijrah and was buried in Madina. Keeping in view the biography and services of Shaikh Muhammad Abid Sindhi, it is needed that the services of this great scholar may be introduced to the scholars. This article is an effort in this connection which shall benefit the researchers.
