Abstract
This research paper deals in sectarian prejudices. The Islamic researchers have divided prejudices into two i.e. praised (glorified) prejudices and nefarious prejudices. Most of relevant information regarding the topic is available in Arabic literature. Two of the books are more popular and related to the topic; one is ‘Al Qanoon Al Duwali wa Hazar Al-Ta’asub Al Dini’ written by Dr Muhammad Thamir Al Saadoon, the other is ‘Al Ta’asub wal Tai’fiyyah’ written by Dr Ahmad Abdul Aal. This article covers the definition of ‘Ta’asub’ (prejudices), its kinds, definition of ‘Tamadhub’, difference in prejudices and Tamadhub, causes of sectarian prejudices and its situation in Pakistani society. Some of the important queries have been responded in this article, for example; is anyone permitted to propagate his/her sectarian prejudices? In this regard the existing prejudices and extremism in Pakistani society have been reflected in this article in case someone is allowed to propagate sectarian thoughts. It has also been mentioned that on the bases of difference between praised and nefarious prejudices the followers of a specific sect in the garb of praised prejudices creates differences with followers of the other sect. Therefore the division in praised and nefarious prejudices should be ended and the term ‘Tamazhob’ and ‘Taasob’ (prejudices) should be used instead because prejudice in any form is ‘haram’ (forbidden) and as a result sectarian prejudices in Pakistan can be mitigated.
