Abstract
In books of Hadith, hadiths have been narrated from almost 1000 companions of prophet (PBUH). According to the number of hadiths narrated, Religious Scholars have divided them into different categories. The Mūksēryen those who have narrated more than 1000 hadiths, the Mūtwasiṭēn who have narrated between 100 to 1000 hadith and Mūqāḷēn those who have narrated less than 100 hadiths. Ibn Hazm and Ibn alJawzī has described the categories of the companions of Prophet (PBUH) according to the number of hadiths narrated by them in his books. Companions of Prophet (PBUH) who have narrated less than 1 thousand hadiths are in hundreds but only seven Companions of prophet have narrated more than 1 thousand hadiths. A large number of Hadiths that are narrated from these seven companions of prophet (PBUH) are present in every hadiths book. In books of hadiths, following nine books are considered most credible and authentic. Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, Sunan Abū Dā'ūd, Jami Tirmidhi, Sunan Nasai, Sunan Ibn Mājah, Musnad Ahmad Ibn Hanbal, Muwatta' Imām Mālēk and Sunan Al-Darimi. In all these nine books of Hadith, most of the hadiths have been narrated by these companions of Prophet (PBUH). In this article, hadiths will be reviewed according to the number from these nine books narrated by these companions of Prophet (PBUH). In these books the ratio of hadiths will be compared narrated by the above described Companions of Prophet (PBUH) with the rest of prophet companions.
