Abstract
Imam Abu Hanifa is among those great scholars who became extraordinary popular as a jurist. He despite of his skills as an expert of hadith was not properly recognized by some of traditionists. There is no doubt that Jurisprudence without knowledge of hadith is not possible. The popularity of Imam Abu Hanifa as a Jurist is around the globe, yet his expertise in hadith has not been adequately explored. This research paper explores the Imam Abu Hanifa’s scholarship in the field of hadith. It revolves around such questions as how skillful he was in the knowledge of hadith and what was opinion of other experts of hadith about his expertise in this particular field of religious knowledge. It is argued here that the stature of Imam Abu Hanifa as an expert of hadtih was also well-established and on the basis of his authority in hadith, he contributed in the field of Islamic Jurisprudence.
