Abstract
It is an undeniable fact that credit of the scientific development of the world goes to many nations including Muslims as they placed foundations for it. In a number of fields of science and technology preliminary and major work belongs to Muslims. Names of Muslim scientists can be found in a large number of fields of science and technology including Medicine, Surgery, Pharmacology, Cardiology, Dermatology, Astronomy, Engineering and Sociology etc. The services of Muslims are even ratified in the present day, as well. The Holy Qur'an which was revealed fourteen centuries before; discussed many scientific things accurately, such as stages of embryo which have been highlighted in a manner which is confirmed by the experts of embryology even in the modern time. However, the problem is that the Muslims; intentionally or unintentionally, ignored their enduring legacy. Almost, in all Muslim countries; a small portion of Muslim Scientists can be seen only in the Syllabus at school level. Furthermore, when Muslim scholars highlight contribution of Muslim scientists; they are often criticized by opponents saying not to tell us stories of the Past, tell us about the latest contribution of Muslim Scientists. Unfortunately, this objection is based on ignorance as in the recent past and, even in the present time; there are Muslim scientists and thinkers who have invented many new things as it was Hulusi Behçet (1889-1948) a great Muslim dermatologist who discovered Inflamed Blood Vessels Disease and its remedy. It was ƖḥmƗd ZēWīl (1946-2016) who discovered Femtochemistry. It is Muhamad Younus who gave the world idea of Microfinance and Microcredit; they all are awarded Nobel Prize for their contributions. It is Jawed Karim a Bangladeshi background German who is the co-founder of YouTube and the first ever person to upload video on YouTube. In a nutshell, Muslim civilization has a very key contribution to the scientific development of the world. In this article we will highlight contribution of some distinguished scientists and tinkers.
