Abstract
The end of World War II saw tectonic shifts in the global political and economic order which were mainly orchestrated by the U.S and its allies on liberal democratic foundations. The emergence of global political and financial institutions under the leadership of America was intended to ensure global peace and spread of democratic values by discouraging arbitrary use of force and violence in settling the conflicts and issues. Contrary to these hopes and aspirations, the world has seen more conflicts, more blood sheds and more frequent eruption of wars amidst the slogans of free world and democracy. The champion of the new world order based on democratic values and human rights itself has been the direct cause of these wars and has been resorting to the arbitrary use of force and violence seriously undermining international laws and norms. Pakistan in this connection unfortunately provides an apt example of this aggressive and arbitrary role of United States of America which in turn is mere continuation of the U.S foreign policy in the world. The paper explores the American state behavior in the twentieth century by analyzing the major events and wars in which The U.S is directly involved including the recent surge of drone strikes in Pakistan.
