Abstract

The poet Muhammad Iqbal is the spiritual father of Islamic literature, and the first founder of it in theory and practice. He was the first to point out the need of the Islamic nation to represent the literature including ethics of Islam. He was the best ambassador of Islamic literature, combining the poetic talent and philosophical wisdom compatible with the foundation of the Islamic faith. This research seeks to clarify Iqbal’s theory of Islamic literature by reviewing the impact of its emergence, and the concept and function of Islamic literature and aesthetics in his poetry. The need of the present writing was felt because despite of Iqbal’s popularity and acceptance in the Arab-Muslim world, study of his thoughts, however is not compatible with it.
