Abstract

The Muslims have always played an active and multi-dimensional role for the welfare and promotion of educational and academic advancements. They not only made the best possible use of the Islamic sources of knowledge and information but also availed all the available academic and literary sources of the primitive civilizations and religious literature of the other nations. They introduced and promoted the art of translation in this regard. During the Abbysseds period, an important institution "Bait ul Hikmat" was inaugurated. The people belonging to all the religions, cultures, civilizations and different parts of the world served in this great institution. The Abbysseds spent unlimited material resources in this regard and subsequently became the forerunners and torchbearers of the educational and academic universe. An impartial study and analysis of the progress and services of this institution is being presented in this research article
