Abstract
The peace and security of the European continent has been the top priority of the European Community / European Union’sleadershipsince the formation ofthe Community. In order to ensure security and peaceful coexistence, the EU has been encouraging regional cooperation, the promotion of human rights, democracy, and good governancein countrieslocated close to the European continent. The EU hastherefore, been continuously trying to prevent the outbreak of conflicts in its neighbourhood. It has also been making efforts to check the prevalence of internationalcrimes in its immediate neighbourhood.
