Abstract
Today’s era is demanding constant wireless connectivity with sustainable bandwidth due to massive number of mobile applications in every domain of life. The uneven distribution of network load in wireless networks may results in minimum throughput and unsatisfactory Quality of Experience (QoE). In order to resolve such issues, the traffic is equally distributed among all available access points (APs), which is termed as load balancing. Software Defined Network (SDN) based load balancing scheme in Wi-Fi network has been introduced to monitors the whole network status information. In this paper, we presented the load balancing techniques and their findings in SD-WLAN environment. We proposed an algorithm for load balancing which calculates the End to End Delay (EED) and Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) values, and on the basis of calculated values less loaded AP can selected. The future challenges and their potential solutions are also being focused in this paper. Regarding performance evaluation, simulation is performed in MATLAB. Moreover, comparison with existing technique, the proposed solution improves the network performance in term of throughput and delay.
