Abstract

Generally, cultural identity is defined by factors such as nation, community, class structure, region, religion and language.The majority of Asian countries and their identities are constructed and based on these patterns. In this research paper the history of Pakistani and Chinese films industries is compared in both approach and contents. Films and movies are playing a vital role in the development of the national and cultural identities of a country. A similar approach has been discovered both in Pakistani and Chinese films, as culturally and historically the themes deployed by the film industries to show their national identities as from the beginning of film industries were dominated by the feudal ideology and culture. The China and Pakistan Economic Corridor is copiously working for this bond of relationship between both the countries for promotion of a compact national identity and to understand the national life of both the nations. These interactions between the Chinese and Pakistani nations can cause cultural diffusion through movies and films. With the release of the first Pakistani film in mainland China, a new understanding of films has arisen among academia and researchers, and the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has taken the initiative to bring the two nations together through films. Pakistani films which began from early 1948 after the establishment of the country have played a key role in representing the national identity of people of Pakistan. China and Chinese film makers have been more conscious about the Chinese culture and its unique identity with respect to accept modern global living standards. This article is an effort to understand the element of nation building in cinema of both the countries.
