Abstract

Fiction writing is an important and popular branch of literature. It has now become the most distinguished and prominent form of literary expression. However, there is a lack of comparative research among fiction writing of different literatures, particularly between fiction in Arabic and Urdu literatures. I also found very few literary works dealing with women fiction writers in the literature of the two above mentioned languages. Considering the importance of its unique place, I decided to make a comparative study of some Palestinian and Pakistani novels written by female writers during the Second Half of the Twentieth Century. The main objective of this research work is to make the readers aware of the true and comprehensive picture of the two societies together with the social problems facing them during the turmoil of the revolutionary periods of the two countries. I started this article from the beginnings of fiction writing in Palestinian and Pakistani literature, then I gave an introduction of the novels that I have selected, and made an objective study of these novels by exploring important topics, social issues and problems raised by the novelists. Finally, I highlighted the points of similarity and dissimilarity between these novels and presented a brief summary and findings of the study.
