Abstract
Majority of the OIC member countries are dependent heavily on their agriculture sector for provision of food, raw material to industry and employment generation. Even though the agriculture sector is the dominant sector in most of the OIC member countries, the share of agriculture in GDP is declining overall. The present study aims to investigate the efficiency of the agriculture sector in selected Islamic countries. Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) has been used to estimate the efficiency scores by using agriculture value added as output and agriculture labor force, gross capital formation and arable land as inputs for time period 2005-2012. 15 OIC member countries have been selected for the analysis on the basis of the availability of desired data.
