Abstract

In this paper, we discussed the data mapping for transformation from relational database (RDB) schema to resource description frame (RDF) Schema. During transformation process between these two schemas, weaknesses like compatibility issues, update query and complexity in relationships are generated. We proposed an approach to overcome these issues particularly when data is transformed from RDB to RDF for semantic web applications. As, for evolving data keeping changes intact is hard and difficult to sustain. Main focus of this study is to map up common features found in both data models of RDB and Semantic Web (SW) based schemas using either form of XML as an intermediate which will help in improving transformation results. These data mappings can further help in gaining better compatibility options for data transformation.
