Abstract
Translation is an ancient art that makes us familiar with the thought and experiences of different language users. Rendering different works into translation has been in vogue for ages. Among religious groups, the Jews and the christians promoted it hesitatingly. The Muslims started this activity in the very period of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) who ordered his companions to learn other languages. Zaid bin Sabit (may God be pleased with him) translated the letters from the Jews. The chain is still going on without any break. The thesis presents the rationale of translation and the critical study of the trends of translation among the Muslims.
