Abstract

Human beings as the chosen creation of God are beautified with apparent and inner attractions. Self-Purification affects both the aspects by developing the factors which plays a key role in personality building. At the same time, it disciplines the harm causing elements. Furthermore, it strengthens the positive force by eliminating negative elements. Obtaining a heavenly and pure life has a constant value in all religions, which continues from maturity till death. Furthermore, if we look at the modern world, it can be felt easily that we live in a world that is confronting a moral decline. Todayit is considerably difficult to live a righteous life in the world full of sins. Hence, SelfPurification and Personality Development has a significant place in all religions of the world, whether it is Hinduism, Buddhism or Islam. All these major religions view the way of Personality Development very differently. In most of Indian (Dharmic) religions, it is thought that one can develop his or her personality through meditation and monasticism. On the other hand, Abrahamic religions, such as Islam and Christianity, use the practical and social approach for this cause. According to Islam, man has been bestowed with some distinctive characteristics which are the tools to accomplish his goals. Their appropriate use leads towards many physical and spiritual benefits individually and collectively. This article discusses the principles and techniques, which help in the intellectual growth of human beings. It is a comparative study which examines the similarities and differences between the stages of Personality Development as described in the Gita, Bible and the Qur’an. It also explains the importance of Personality Development and Self Purification in these subjected books.
