Abstract
Within the Islamic tradition woman has important roles to play. One of her distinguished and sacred duties throughout the Islamic history has been seeking and dissemination of knowledge of shar┘’ah. She has, in this field, contributed along with men equally with full devotion and zeal. The history of Muslims is rich with women of great achievements in all walks of life from as early as the seventh century. Since the beginning of Islam, Muslim women have made strong contributions in the development of Islamic Societies. The following article is a narration of the works of those Muslim women who contributed in the field of fiqh i.e Islamic Jurisprudence. The conclusion to draw from the article is that Muslim woman enjoys a dignified and esteemed status in Islam and contributes valuably in Islamic jurisprudence. The stereotypes that woman has no says in Islam are not based on sound footings.
